Broadstairs and St Peter’s hosted their third annual Community Festival on Saturday in Pierremont Park and the crowds turned out to enjoy all the event had to offer. Children were entertained with free face-painting, bouncy castles and ice cream whilst local community groups, the Pavilion Youth and Community Café and Inspiration Creative offered free craft activities. Parents enjoyed live music provided by young local talented acts and a craft market selling locally produced gifts and goodies such as fudge, candles, soaps and honey.
A series of talks was on offer by amongst others, the Town Team Gardening Group, Friends of Pierremont Park and the Town Council’s own Woodland Officer who updated attendees on progress with the accessible pathway into Mockett’s Wood.
Community Groups from across the District, including Neurodivergent Friends in Thanet, the RNLI, The Gap Project and Thanet Lifeguard Club came together to offer advice and information and to recruit new volunteers and users of their services.
Town Mayor, Cllr Mike Garner who opened the event said, “It was great to see so many families out enjoying the park in the sunshine and experiencing all that Broadstairs and St Peter’s has to offer. We’d like to thank all those volunteers who gave their time to showcase the best of what is Cleaner, Safer and Kinder in our town.”
