It’s been a busy start to the summer for the Mayor, Cllr George Rusiecki and Deputy Mayor, Steve Roberts.
The Mayor, Cllr Rusiecki and Mayoress, Dr Sarah Kemp had the pleasure of joining the Town Team at their spring/summer seed and plant swap at Pierremont Hall on 6th June, where he donated £200 of edible plants for the swap and to use in the new Town Team project, The Grow Zone! Despite the rainy weather, the event was a great success!
On the 11th June Deputy Mayor, Cllr Roberts attended the QEQM Hospital League of Friends AGM. He met with civic representatives the Mayor & Deputy Mayor of Margate, Cllr Leo Britcher & Cllr Tamara S Campbell, the Mayor & Deputy Mayor of Ramsgate, Cllr Raushan Ara & Cllr Jane Hetherington, plus the outgoing Chairman Sylvia Pheils and incoming Chairman Sue Leach. Sylvia outlined the progress the charity has made over the last year enabling them to spend £101,949 on funding items to benefit patients, staff & visitors ranging from a TV to a very sophisticated training mannequin simulator.
On 14th June Mayor Cllr Rusiecki and Mayoress, Dr Sarah Kemp had the honour of opening the Broadstairs Dickens Festival, starting at Pierremont Hall where they were met by Queen Victoria and her royal horses!
During the parade, the Mayor and Mayoress made a quick stop off at a new business in town, the Boathouse Seafood Shack, to welcome them to the town on their opening weekend!
On the 18th June, Cllr Steve also attended charity football match at Copperfield, where staff and local businesses/community had fun raising monies for charity.
Cllr Rusieski also had the privilege of attending Raising of the flag in Maidstone and Chartwell House for Armed forces celebration on the 23rd June, followed by 27th June Armed forces day parade in Ramsgate.
