Earlier this year Thanet District Council agreed to sell Pierremont depot on the open market with a list price of £475,000. Account would be taken of the social value of each bid but tenders would need to demonstrate exactly what additional economic, social or environmental benefits would be gained in return for the lower receipt.
The Town Council submitted a bid to purchase the Pierremont Depot on this basis. Unfortunately this bid was unsuccessful.
Town Mayor, Cllr George Rusiecki says, “Whilst we are disappointed our bid was unsuccessful, we want to publish it to demonstrate to our residents the plans we were developing. Although those plans will be more difficult to deliver without the use of a depot, we are confident we can still make significant improvements to our green spaces around the town over the coming years. These will include working in partnership with TDC to restore Pierremont Park to its former glory and safeguard its long-term future.”
