Working Collaboratively with the RSPB!

Broadstairs and St Peter’s Town Council have been very happy to be part of some collaborative work with the local RSPB group and Kent Wildlife Trust.

Thanet RSPB Local Group has been successfully running for 50 years and, to celebrated this milestone anniversary, on 12th of November the RSPB chief executive officer Beccy Speight gave a wonderful talk to members and visitors at Queen’s Rd Baptist Hall.

Broadstairs and St Peter’s Mayor, Cllr Mike Garner, was delighted to be able to open this event and formally welcomed Beccy to Broadstairs. He was also able to donate two swift boxes to Beccy on the evening, which were then handed to The Royal Albion Hotel by Beccy as The Royal Albion Hotel have kindly agreed to put these two boxes onto the front of their seafront building to help these amazing birds in Broadstairs.

Broadstairs and St Peter’s Town Council were also very happy to donate a hedgehog hotel to the Pilgrim’s Hospice (Thanet) following a talk by Kerry Sabin-Dawson (Kent Wildlife Trust Volunteer) on how to help these endangered animals by looking after our wild spaces and leaving space for nature in our gardens. The Pilgrim’s Hospice have a fabulous garden for wildlife and were excited by the prospect of having a hedgehog residing in their gardens for the winter.

The Town Council are looking forward to working with the local RSPB group on future projects!
