Broadstairs & St Peter’s Town Council is delighted to announce that the doors of historic Pierremont Hall will swing open to the public from Saturday, 11 September to Thursday, 17 September 2026 for a free-to-attend Heritage Open Days celebration.
Locals and visitors alike can explore the rich and fascinating history of this local landmark everyday between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. In alignment with the national Heritage Open Days ethos, entry is entirely free and no pre-booking or timeslots are required.
Built in 1785 as an elegant private country residence, the grand Georgian house has played many roles across its centuries-long lifespan. Notably, it served as a childhood holiday home for Her Majesty Queen Victoria (then Princess Victoria). Today, Pierremont Hall operates as a vibrant community hub and weddings venue managed by the Town Council.
A major highlight of the heritage week occurs on Saturday, 12 September, when the popular Antiques & Collectibles Fair returns to the grounds from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Visitors can browse a vibrant outdoor market of antique treasures and vintage finds alongside their historical exploration.
To make the heritage celebration accessible to all generations, the Town Council is hosting an exclusive free film screening at Pierremont Hall, for children and teenagers under the age of 18. Perfect for keeping young minds entertained after a morning browsing the fair. The council will be posting clues to what film will be played on their social media pages. So, make sure you follow the Town Council’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/broadstarsstpeterstc.
Heritage Open Days offers free public access to historic landmarks, hidden spaces, and private architectural treasures that usually charge an admission fee or are closed to the public. You can find more venues open to the public by visiting https://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/.
