About The Mayor - Cllr Kristian Bright

The Mayor is an advertising professional who works with some of the world’s largest brands across a number of European countries. As an expert in driving cost efficiency, he is keen to use his considerable experience to ensure council budgets are allocated to the services where they will have the greatest positive impact.

With close family ties to Broadstairs and a real love of the town, the mayor moved here with his family ten years ago and his children have thrived at our local schools.

In May 2023, the residents of Broadstairs Viking Ward elected him to represent them on both the District and Town Councils, where he will serve on a number of committees and sub-committees.

The Mayor’s wife and consort, Councillor Joanne Bright represents Broadstairs Beacon Road Ward on both District and Town Councils.

The Mayor will continue the magnificent work done by his predecessors in supporting our residents and promoting our town. Moreover, Councillor Bright is an ardent believer in social justice and will use his tenure as mayor to be an advocate for the charities, groups and unseen heroes who support our community’s most vulnerable citizens.
