Broadstairs in-Bloom Projects

Orsbourne Road Wild flower Meadow

Broadstairs & St. Peter’s Town Council are so pleased with the results of our trial wildflower meadow. A big thank you to contractors Box Green for carrying out the works to create such a fantastic pocket of beauty on this main road.

Civic & Support Officer Abi, Clerk to the Environmental Committee, has been managing this project since April last year and has been working with Kent County Council, Town Councillors and volunteers to have the two wild cherry trees planted on the land plus the licence for the wildflower meadow. Abi has also been working with the contractors regarding specifications and maintaining the growth of the project. Whilst this project has taken over a year to come to fruition, it is clear it has been worth it!

The Town Council office has been overwhelmed with positive comments regarding the project so far. This morning Abi was lucky enough to meet the meadows biggest fan Golden Retriever, Riley, who has been enjoying the meadow while she heals from a surgery and is finding walks to the beach too difficult.

Special thank you to the local residents, including Paul Verall who have also been helping with watering.

We hope to continue this successful project!
