Hours: Zero Hour Contract

Our bank hour contracts allow flexibility, giving you the benefits of a consistent workplace and the opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. We promise a minimum of 100 hours per year, with holiday pay on top of every hour you work. Please be aware that this role requires evening and weekend availability.

What is a Town Sergeant?

The Town Sergeant is the Sergeant-at-Arms for local towns. The Town Sergeant provides Civic and ceremonial support to the Town’s Mayor. Assisting as a master of ceremonies at Civic events, marshalling Civic parades and take responsibility for Civic regalia including the ceremonial mace, robes and chains. As well as acting as chauffeur for the Mayor.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• To liaise with the office regarding new posters to be sited on town noticeboards on a weekly basis.
• To accompany the Mayor and/or the Deputy on Civic engagements and functions.
• To support and attend various annual Civic functions and Mayoral events.
• Assist with the preparations, set-up and clear-up etc. for events.
• When required, act as Toast Master for announcements at Civic events.
• To wear the necessary uniform at ceremonial functions.
