On Saturday 20th June 2015, Broadstairs Harbour was proud to participate in a ceremonial recreation of the news of the final defeat of Napoleon by a coalition of European nations at the Battle of Waterloo.

The Dispatch travelled in a horse drawn post-chaise via Brussels and Ostend, before setting sail on HMS Northumberland to Broadstairs. Major Percy and Captain White RN were rowed to Viking Bay (known as Main Bay in 1815) with the New Waterloo Dispatch and French Standards. On disembarking, they made their way across the beach to the Harbour Arm, where they were met by the Lord Lieutenant for Kent, Lord De L'Isle, and Lady De L'Isle together with senior personnel representing the Armed Forces, local dignitaries including the Town Mayor, Cllr. Rosalind Binks, costumed re-enactors and invited guests.

Following welcome speeches, the Town Mayor formally received a copy of the New Waterloo Dispatch. Major Percy with Captain White RN departed from the Harbour Arm in a horse drawn post-chaise for Canterbury and then onto London.
