Punch and Judy beach performer 2024

Broadstairs and St Peter’s Town Council is looking to sponsor another season of Punch and Judy on Viking Bay beach this summer.

About the area

Broadstairs in East Kent is a traditional seaside resort where Punch and Judy has been part of the tourism offering for as long as anyone can remember.

Viking Bay is the main tourist bay for Broadstairs. This large sandy bay has a picturesque jetty to one side and a tidal pool at the other. The bay is accessible via a wide boarded pathway which passes cafés and attractions one would expect at a popular tourist resort. During the summer months there are thousands of visitors every day.

What we are looking for

We are looking to employ a performer to provide the public with free entertainment on Broadstairs beach during the July and August summer holidays 2024.

We would like to maximize the number of performances to increase public enjoyment.

The maximum budget is £2000. This fee should support the performance of Punch and Judy as a free show for the public. There is also an added opportunity to raise more funds in the form of collecting donations, subject to local authority approval.

We ask all who are interested, to complete an application form. Within this form, we have key criteria which must be met to be considered for the role.

The application form can be found here: Punch and Judy application form

Mandatory Criteria: Punch and Judy Mandatory Criteria

All applications must be in by the 29th of February 2024 at 17:00.
The successful performer will be contacted by the 20th of March 2024.

The project is subject to licensing by Thanet District Council.

If you have any questions or need support with your application, please email The Town Council Events Team at events@broadstairs.gov.uk or call us on 01843 263609.
