Town Mayor Civic Year 2011/2012
The Mayor for Broadstairs and St. Peter’s for the Civic year 2011-2012 is
Councillor David Saunders.
The new Town Mayor for Broadstairs & St. Peter’s, Councillor David Saunders, is married to Mavanne and has lived and worked in Broadstairs since 1964 and has a grown up Son and Daughter and grandchildren, all of whom live locally.
Raised and educated in Greenwich (London), David trained as a draughtsman, attending Camberwell College of Art & Design and Goldsmiths College whilst embarking on a long and successful career in Product Design and Graphics with the UK’s premier company in its field.
Chief Draughtsman at the tender age of twenty-one, David progressed into Senior Management and Project Management, working on multi-million pound contracts for major blue chip domestic and worldwide institutions and companies, until retiring from full time employment in 2009.
David is well known for his commitment to both the Town and as an active and enthusiastic member of many of the societies within Broadstairs, he was treasurer for The Water Gala and The Chamber of Commerce and for the past nine years the Broadstairs 5th November Family Event, you may also catch sight of him in costume during the Dickens Festival and on occasion as a guide on the award winning St. Peter’s Village Tour.
Since joining the Council, David has proven to be an effective councillor, representing and serving the Town and his constituents on a number of committees and brings a wealth of local knowledge, to his newly elected position as Mayor.
